YJP Miami
House rules.
Short version: be the kind of person you’d want at the table. The longer version is below.
Be a real human
Use your real name and a real photo on your profile. The directory only works when members can recognize each other. Joke profiles, pen names, and stock-photo headshots get removed.
No harassment, full stop
That covers slurs, threats, sexual messages people didn’t invite, and any pattern of contact someone’s asked you to stop. Once is a warning, twice is a removal. We don’t mediate “but they actually” — if a member tells us they were harassed, we believe them and act.
Network channels are private
What gets posted in a network channel stays in the network channel. Don’t screenshot conversations and put them on social media. Don’t paste them into other group chats. If someone breaks something in the channel, tell staff — don’t blow it up publicly.
Classifieds are for real asks and real offers
An apartment you’re actually subletting. A referral you actually need. The accountant who actually saved your life last year. Not: cold pitches for your unrelated business, MLM recruitment, crypto, dating profiles dressed up as “networking.”
Soliciting members for unrelated business
If you’re a real estate agent / lawyer / financial advisor / coach: you’re welcome. Members will reach out when they need you. Don’t cold-DM the directory. Don’t treat events as lead-gen. The community runs on the reverse — be useful, get hired.
Photos
We take photos at events. They show up here, on yjpmiami.com, on our social, and in promotional material. If you’d rather not be in any of that — tell the photographer at the event, or email hello@yjpmiami.com with the photo or event and we’ll take it down within 7 business days.
If you’re in a photo with someone who clearly doesn’t want to be photographed, don’t post it.
Tickets
Don’t lend your QR ticket to a non-member to get them in for free. Door staff scan tier on arrival. If you’d like to bring a guest, Plus / Unlimited / Top members already have plus-one privileges; Basic can bring a friend at the guest price posted on the event.
Conduct at events
YJP events are not bars. Drink in proportion to where you are. The bartender will cut you off; if you don’t take it well, security will. Don’t bring substances. Don’t drive home if you shouldn’t — staff will Uber you for free, ask anyone in a YJP shirt.
Disagreements with staff
If a staff member made a call you think was wrong, email hello@yjpmiami.com with the details. The rabbi reads escalations personally. We will not have an argument with you publicly at an event.
What happens when these rules get broken
- First offense, minor: a private message from staff. We assume good faith.
- Repeat or serious: channel mute, event ban for the next 30 days, or both.
- Violation of the harassment rule, or anything criminal: immediate membership termination. No refund of the unused portion of the year — the rule is in the terms you agreed to.
